As you may already know, every Internet marketer worth their salt will tell you that one sure way to make any money online is to build an Opt-In email list. Such a list is worth its weight in gold because anyone who subscribes to your list is a targeted prospect for your products and services.

What is not well known, however, is HOW to build your mailing list. I use a seven-step method of attracting subscribers to my newsletter.

• Step 1 - Send an email to the NEW-LIST mailing list Once you have completed the first issue of your Ezine you must let everyone know it exists! One of the most effective ways of doing this is by sending an email announcement to http://scout.cs.wisc.edu/index.html. NEW-LIST is a new mailing list announcement service. Thousands of people online subscribe to this list to receive email notifications of new Ezines and mailing lists. So, by posting to this list, you will immediately be telling thousands of prospective subscribers about your publication.
• Step 2 - List your Ezine in all of the newsletter directories There are hundreds of listings and directories services on the Internet. The difficult decision is to determine which ones are the most effective in attracting subscribers and therefore which ones you should submit your Ezine to. Do a search for �Ezine Directories� in your favorite search engine to locate some good sites.
• Step 3 � Use your signature file Most webmasters tend to forget their signature file when promoting their websites and Ezines. Simply put a one-line link to allow every email message you send to be an advertisement for your Ezine!
• Step 4 � Use your website to promote your Ezine You would be amazed at how few people use their websites to get subscribers to their Ezine. All you need to do is to place a request for subscribers at (or near) the top of every web page. This has generated an 80% success rate for me.
• Step 5 - Trade ads with other Ezines Swap ads with other Ezine publishers in your subject area. You�ll be amazed at the results you can get!
• Step 6 - Write articles for other Ezines Take a look at those Ezines you are currently subscribed to. You will see articles by the same people, over and over again. Those people also happen to be the ones who have very successful Ezines (and online businesses!). When you write an article, always include a small section at the end that includes your name and how to subscribe to your Ezine. Most Ezine editors allow this in return for being able to use your article.
• Step 7 - Advertise offline Now that you have completed your online promotion and a steady stream of subscribers is being added to your Opt-In Email list, the final step is to advertise your Ezine (and business for that matter) offline. These subscribers will be your most effective contacts!

Summary

By following this process to promote your Ezine you can look forward to growing your Opt-In Email list substantially over the coming week. This technique is proven. Several Ezine publishers have grown their list by as much as 600 subscribers in one week following these steps. You can too! But remember you must TAKE ACTION NOW otherwise it will not work.
